Improving the Appearance of Damaged Teeth
Dental bonding is when a resin is applied to a damaged or discoloured tooth to return it to its original colour and structure.
Cosmetic bonding services should require little to no anesthetic or drilling, so the procedure can be conducted on multiple teeth in a single session. Because of this, dental bonding can be a convenient treatment option to change the look of your smile.
Although dental bonding cannot fix every structural dental problem, it is a good non-invasive and cost-sensitive option for a variety of cosmetic concerns.
The Dental Bonding Procedure
Depending on how much work is being done to your smile, your cosmetic bonding appointment could take between one and two hours.
During the bonding procedure, your dentist will apply a composite resin designed to match the colour of your teeth to your smile.
This will cover gaps or cracks in your teeth. This resin will then be hardened before we smooth and polish it to a natural-looking shine.
Maintenance for Bonded Teeth
After you have dental bonding done, you won't need to do anything beyond your regular hygiene routine to maintain the appearance and structure of your new bonds. Simply treat them as you would your natural teeth by brushing twice daily, for at least two minutes each time, and flossing at least once per day.
If you have any concerns about how sensitive your bonding may be after it is done, ask your dentist what food and drinks to avoid in order to prevent damaging the bonding. In general, this is a strong resin that is not easy to damage.
